The Rolls Royce Armoured Car was a British light armored vehicle, created from the Rolls Royce Silver Ghost car in 1914. An 8mm armored body was installed on top of the passenger car's chassis, while its armament consisted of a Vickers machine gun in a rotating turret. Armored cars of this type were widely used during WWI, mainly in the colonies of the British Empire, in the Middle East and North Africa. In the European theater it had limited operational use due to the kind of warfare being conducted at that time. These armored cars were used as police cars against civilian populations during the rebellion in 1916 in Ireland. After WWI the Rolls Royce Armoured Car was in British colonial service for a long time, receiving several improvements.
